Efficacy of using Cascade in the treatment of cerebral vasospasm – Perflow Medical

12 Nov, 2021

Treatment technique

– Usually, Cascade is extended multiple times to treat vasospasm.

– Sometimes Cascade is expanded ‘partially unwrapped’ to focus the expansion effect.

Centripetal force

– Both M&L Cascade Agile devices produce greater sustained Extroverted Force than the 4x20mm Solitaire devices.

– If desired, a lower force can also be produced by limiting the extent to which the device is extended.

“The idea that precontraction leads to successful vasodilation suggests that the administration of a chemical vasodilator prior to mechanical vasodilation may interfere with the success of subsequent vasodilation.”

‘Advantages’ of non-embolic devices compared to balloons (Treatment of cerebral vasospasm)

1) Does not impede retrograde cerebral blood flow.

2) Lower risk of blood vessel rupture.

3) Familiar technique makes it more secure.

4) Smaller distant circuits can also be handled.

Advantages of Cascade:

1) Partially unwrapped devices can be used to target key areas of spasm.

2) Not likely to lead to vascular rupture due to Cascade’s braided design.

Cascade Agile L and Cascade Agile L, as well as Cascade17 can be used for further anatomy.
